Quality exterior painting starts with meticulous surface prep and premium Sherwin-Williams products. We don't cut corners on preparation — it's the foundation of a paint job that lasts. Whether you need a fresh look or protection from Denver's intense sun and temperature swings, we have the right paint package for your home.
Standard

Typical Lifespan: 6–9 years
Elite
$2.50
/per sq ft
Best for: Homeowners who want paint that truly lasts. Sherwin-Williams Duration is a premium acrylic coating with exceptional adhesion, self-priming properties, and superior color retention. It handles Colorado’s intense UV, freeze-thaw cycles, and hailstorms better than standard paints. This is the sweet spot for most Denver homeowners.
Typical Lifespan: 9–12 years
Premium
$3
/per sq ft
Best for: Homeowners who want the best paint Sherwin-Williams makes on their home. Emerald is their flagship exterior product — advanced resin technology delivers unmatched color accuracy, UV resistance, and self-cleaning properties. If you want a paint job that looks fresh for over a decade with minimal maintenance, this is it.
Typical Lifespan: 12–15+ years
Deck & Fence Staining
$2 – $5
/per sq ft
Available Finishes: Transparent shows full wood grain with light color. Semi-transparent adds color while grain still shows — most popular for decks. Solid gives full color coverage, best for older wood with imperfections.
Decks take a beating from foot traffic, standing water, furniture, and direct sun. That means significantly more prep work — sanding, stripping old finish, cleaning, and repairing damaged boards — before new stain can go on. Fences are vertical surfaces with less wear and typically need lighter preparation.
Typical Lifespan: 2–8 years

Exterior painting and staining costs in Denver, Colorado using Sherwin-Williams products. Exterior house painting packages: Standard package uses Sherwin-Williams Latitude at approximately $2 per square foot with 5 to 8 year longevity. Elite package uses Sherwin-Williams Duration at approximately $2.50 per square foot with 8 to 12 year longevity — this is the most popular choice for Denver homeowners because of its self-priming formula and superior fade resistance. Premium package uses Sherwin-Williams Emerald at approximately $3 per square foot with 10 to 15+ year longevity and self-cleaning properties. All paint packages include Shermax elastomeric caulking, Sherwin-Williams Rx Peel Bonding Primer, and thorough surface preparation. Deck and fence staining uses Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck exterior stain. Deck staining costs $4 to $5 per square foot because decks require extensive preparation including sanding, stripping, and board repair due to foot traffic wear. Fence staining costs $2 to $3 per square foot with lighter prep requirements. SuperDeck stain is available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid color options. Transparent stain lasts 2 to 4 years, semi-transparent lasts 3 to 5 years, and solid lasts 5 to 8 years. Semi-transparent is the most popular choice for both decks and fences. HOMEOWNER GUIDE
Skip the contractor jargon – Here's what matters when choosing your siding.
It comes down to resin quality. Cheap paint uses cheaper resins that break down faster under UV and temperature swings. Latitude is a solid product that does the job. Duration uses a thicker, more advanced formula that grips surfaces better and resists fading longer. Emerald is Sherwin-Williams' best technology — it stays cleaner, holds color longer, and requires fewer coats. The price difference between packages is usually $1,000-3,000 on a typical home — but the longevity difference can mean avoiding a full repaint for an extra 5+ years.
The number one reason paint fails isn't the paint — it's bad prep. If you paint over peeling areas, dirty surfaces, or un-caulked gaps, the new paint will peel right off within a year or two. The elastomeric caulking we use flexes with Denver's extreme temperature swings (it can go from 10 degrees to 60 degrees in the same day), and the peel bonding primer creates a surface that new paint can actually grip to. Skipping prep is the most expensive shortcut in painting.
Look for chalking (a powdery residue when you rub the surface), visible peeling or cracking, faded or uneven color, bare wood showing through, or caulking that's cracked and pulling away from trim. If your last paint job was 7+ years ago, it's worth getting an inspection.
Most Denver homes take 3-5 days depending on size, prep needed, and weather. We don't cut corners on dry time between coats or rush prep work. Colorado's low humidity actually helps — paint cures faster here than in most of the country.
If your siding is structurally sound and you like the style, painting is a fraction of the cost of new siding and can make your home look brand new. If your siding is rotting, warped, or damaged, painting won't fix the underlying problem. We'll tell you honestly which option makes sense — we do both, so we have no incentive to push one over the other.
Not with our pricing — the per-square-foot rate is the same regardless of color within each package. However, going from a very light to a very dark color (or vice versa) may require an additional coat for full coverage. We'll let you know during the estimate if that applies.

My roof had some hail damage, and they were able to simplify this process by walking me through everything from the insurance claim to the final roof installation. Usually insurance claims can get tricky, but they handled the communication between everyone and did a beautiful job replacing our roof. Shout out to Christina for helping us through this process, and making sure we were informed along the way.Posted on Google Matt PolingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jack Fairbanks explained everything and made sure he came back twice during scheduling to make my wife and I understood everything. This was seemless and it got done in a day. Even the solar panels removal and reinstall went well and with 39 panels, we were nervous. Great job Jake and team, Ideal comes highly recommended from this family.Posted on Google Calvin CrouseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience working with Jake and the team at Ideal Roofing. Their communication and thoughtfulness really stood out, and it always felt like they were looking out for my best interest instead of just making a sale. They were knowledgeable, honest, and down to earth, which gave me peace of mind knowing my roof was in good shape. Even though I didn’t need a new roof this time, I wouldn’t hesitate to call them if I ever do. The process was fair, transparent, and easy from start to finish. I would absolutely recommend Ideal Roofing to my closest friends and family.Posted on Google Brandon RidderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Sasa did a great job communicating and setting expectations throughout the entire process. He dealt with my insurance company in an efficient and helpful way and got us exactly what we needed. Thank you Sasa and Ideal Roofing & Solar!Posted on Google Mark MimovichTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The service and integrity of the folks at Ideal Roofing is hard to find these days. Eric & Sasha did inspections on our roof for hail damage and a leak repair. In two occasions they could have recommended and done fixes that were not necessary but instead they were honest with their assessment and we had to get an HVAC contractor involved. I would highly recommend Ideal roofing for and roofing inspection or repair!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
